What guests say about Gran Canaria

4.8out of 5from 20 reviews

Regions & places for your holiday

Gran Canaria offers different holiday regions, each with its own unique character. In the south, Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico offer plenty of sunshine, beaches and good tourist infrastructure. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, take a look at Puerto de Mogán or the west coast around Agaete. In the island’s interior, mountain villages and rural locations are inviting options, especially if you’re looking for a finca or a holiday home in a green setting. Las Palmas is also worth considering if you want to combine city life and the beach. That way, you can find the right place on the island for every type of holiday.

Activities & Attractions

On Gran Canaria, you can combine beach days with trips into nature. The dunes of Maspalomas are among the island’s best-known landscapes, while Roque Nublo and the mountain region in the centre are ideal destinations for hiking. In Las Palmas, it is worth strolling through the old quarter of Vegueta. Coastal towns, viewpoints and small harbours also make an island holiday varied and enjoyable. Many guests also appreciate water sports, boat trips and relaxing days in sheltered coves. This makes a stay in a holiday home, holiday apartment or finca especially versatile.

Practical tips: getting there, climate, and the best time to travel

Gran Canaria is easy to reach by plane, as the airport is served regularly from many European departure airports. Once there, a rental car is practical if you want to discover beaches, mountain villages, and remote coves flexibly. The climate is considered mild and sunny, although the island offers different conditions depending on the region: the south is usually drier and warmer, while the interior is cooler. Many months of the year are suitable for a holiday, especially if you want to combine sunshine, hiking, and a beach holiday. Booking early is worthwhile, especially during popular travel periods.
